Learning At God’s Feet!
Growing up in church I was constantly told to read my Bible and pray everyday. In fact, they even made a song out of it. Now I’m certain that their intentions were marvelous, but in my opinion it was more about gaining the approval of the teacher than it was about learning from God.
As I grew in my walk with God I began to discover that I actually ENJOYED reading my Bible, for me! Then an amazing thing began to happen, I began to “hear” God’s voice as I went through my day. No, I didn’t hear an audible James-Earl-Jone-ish voice booming through the clouds, I would hear the words of Scripture in my thoughts. Sometimes it was words of comfort, other times it was words of warning, and on more than a few occasions it was a verse that prepared me for was was about to come.
If you want to hear God’s voice, you must put forth the effort of listening. God took everything we need to know and put it down on paper in a book for us! Isn’t that an amazing thought? Yet, far too often those divinely inspired words are never heard by us, because we are too busy, too rushed, or simply too apathetic to invest the time.

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. – 2 Timothy 3:16-17 NLT
