It’s All About Him!

Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. – 1 Timothy 6:18-19

Verse 19 ends in a rather peculiar way doesn’t it, …that they may lay hold on eternal life. Paul is writing to believers here, and he is not telling them what they need to do to “keep” being saved, instead what he is saying is that are to be, “…rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share…”. Then they will lay hold of what eternal life is really all about.

It is not about the things you possess; it is not even about the blessings God gives you. It is all about your relationship with Him. Jesus said in John 17:3, “This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”
