Focusing on Suffering
Romans 8:18 Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later.
We are so short focused, our eyes see what is before us and maybe a few handful of people can see beyond their present circumstances and into the possibilities of the future. If we are in the midst of suffering we are accustom to asking God “why are you doing this to me?” instead of asking “how are you using this to grow me closer to you?”. Some even dare blame God for a tough, hard or painful situation they are going through. While some even get angry with God and decide He is no longer “worth” trusting in and turn their backs on Him as well as their church.
We have to realized that Satan is the ruler of this world we live in. He will do whatever he can to cause us to turn from God or at the least cause us to distance ourselves in our relationship with Him. Satan watches what we do, he knows exactly what will trip us up and he will do it over and over again until we stumble into the same nasty pit pigs roll around in.
Beth Moore has 5 great things we can say to ourselves when our faith begins to waiver:
- God is who He says He is
- God can do what He says He can do
- I am who God says I am
- I can do all things through Christ
- God’s Word is alive and active in me
If you want to get mad, get mad at the right person, Satan. If you want to fight against the one who creates and causes bad and horrible circumstances, put on the armor of God and fight Satan and his angels. Don’t waste your energy and time allowing your present circumstances to hurt your relationship with God. And please remember the glory God will reveal to us later.
