The 5:

A recap of  Dave Crandall’s message “What Is Love?” in 5 points or less.

  1. What are your actions saying to the people you say you love the most?
  2. If we cannot have Christ-like love for those closest to us, how can we possibly have it for others?
  3. Love is doing whatever it takes.
  4. Love is using whatever you have.
  5. This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. (1 John 3:16)

Kids Zone: Take It Home With You!

What We Learned:

The Bible is filled with strange occurrences and odd events. Balaam talked to a donkey, and strangely enough, the donkey talked back to him. On his way to see the king of Moab, God put an angel in Balaam’s path that sent his donkey going in different directions. Balaam beat the donkey for not obeying him, but God opened his eyes to see that Balaam’s obedience was what was most important to God. Check out more on this weird Bible story in Numbers 22! Our BIG IDEA today is Our God Gives Us Direction!

In the Car:

If you have a family pet, talk to your kids about what it takes to care for it this week – giving the dog a bath, changing the cat’s litter box, etc. Talk about the importance of taking care of God’s creatures and how that fits into the greater picture of our obedience to God. Challenge the kids to share these responsibilities to see how we can practice obedience. If you don’t have a pet, visit with a neighbor who has pets or take a trip to the local animal shelter!

At Bedtime:

Read 1 Corinthians 2:9 in your Bible. Pray with your kids thanking God for being your child’s first mentor. Pray for the habits and values you are instilling in your children. Pray that God would guide you on being an intentional role model of obedience to him.
