James 2:1  My brothers and sisters, believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ must not show favoritism.

James is talking about how we treat people in respects to them being wealthy or poor, but I’d like to challenge you to think about it within your family.  So often we hear people voice an opinion of having a favorite child, grandchild, or other member of the family.  This type of thinking can be so very detrimental and hurtful.  Obviously there are going to be people that we connect with better or have more in common with, but playing the “favorite” game doesn’t strengthen a family in any way.  Take it maybe a step further….maybe your family members are the people you go to church with.  Anything that does not pull us together only weakens us.

Today as you have Thanksgiving and are surrounded by family think about how your interacting with each person.  Do you cause problems within your family by playing favorites; maybe even by excluding people?  Challenge yourself this holiday to treat each person the way you love being treated.  This could be a complete turn around in the type of relationship you have with some of your family members.
