Proverbs 24:17  Don’t rejoice when your enemies fall; don’t be happy when they stumble.

It one thing to rub it in when you’ve beaten someone in your favorite card game.  It’s a completely different story when we delight in someone who is actually in the category of “enemy” getting what is due to them.  Whether it’s our next door neighbor, and old “best friend”, or someone who serves in political office it is never OK to throw a party, victory dance, even secretly be filled with great pleasure when they fall. 

Christ tells us to pray for our enemies.  He tells us to love one and to be someone who exhibits grace and mercy.  One day (and that may be very soon)  you and I will fall on a face.  How do we want people to respond when that happens?
