Expose the Truth in this World and in your Heart
Today there are many people who believe that truth is what you make it. Sadly the truth is being covered up in the process. To speak out and speak your mind, to express your opinion is the right of all, but what you say isn’t made true just because you said it. Too many people are being deceived by what they hear others saying and believing it to be true based on the fact that it was on the news, printed in today’s paper, or spoken in an interview; the list goes on and on. Do not be deceived by those who look and sound sincere, nor by those who with good intentions, lead others astray.
I want to warn you today to be on your guard for what you hear and believe. The Bible itself is full of such warnings and rightly so. I am so glad that God has given us His Word and written down for us the warnings He wants us to hear and be careful of. Matthew 24:24 states, “For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect-if that were possible.” If we are easily led astray by what we hear, what is going to happen to us when these false prophets and false Christs are performing miracles right in front of us? The Bible says truly they will deceive many even some of the elect. Matthew 24:4 says, “Watch out that no one deceives you.”
I challenge each of you, myself included, to expose the truth when you can. Whether it’s an email going around about party candidates in the election, a church member or some other rumor that you hear, it’s up to us as Christians to be leaders of the truth. We have so many resources today to help us find the real truth on many topics and people. Write an email, make a phone call, stop the rumors; most of the time it only takes a few minutes to find the source and uncover the truth. We owe it to God, ourselves, our families, friends, communities and others who seek the truth to do what we can when we can.
2 Timothy 2:15-16 “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. Avoid godless chatter because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.”
There are those who speak falsely but who in their own minds and hearts are telling the truth. Many people cover or hide sin to protect their reputations, they place a veil over their own hearts. They mistakenly think this veil causes them to appear pure, when actually they are not. This ultimately leads to hypocrisy. So now they not only deceive others but themselves.
The fear of God is our only protection against hypocrisy. Then we will not hide sin in our hearts, because we will fear God more than the opinions of mortal man. We will become more concerned with what God thinks of us than what man thinks. We will be more concerned with God’s desires than with our temporary comfort. We will esteem His Word more valuable than man’s. We will turn our hearts to the Lord, and as Paul says in 2 Corinthians 3:16, “But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.”
Be the Blessing
