Clarifying Christmas

Starting next week we’ll be kicking off a new series at Friendship called, We Wish You An Honest Christmas!  My point through this series is to make sure that no myths, folklore, or traditions get in the way of the wonder of Christmas.  So, often we allow things that really don’t matter, make the stuff that does matter, seem like it doesn’t matter…did you follow that?

Try it this way, instead of focusing on decorations, triming, family schedules, the perfect present, (ad naseum); why don’t you take a moment and simply thank God for the incredible gift of Christmas?  Instead of worrying about whose going where, and what party you’ll go to or not go to, take a deep breath and thank God that His Son left Heaven’s glory to be born an impoverished child under highly questionable circumstances.

Let’s clear away the “stuff” that doesn’t matter, and focus on making the stuff that does matter our focus this Christmas season.

“Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favour rests.” Luke 2:11-14
