Be Gentle & Show Grace To Your Spouse

Having been married for almost 9 years now, me and the wife have gone through our share of arguments, as probably most of you other married couples have. (If you haven’t then please give me a call and tell me your secret!)

I think two great things come out of any argument with your spouse, of course making up is first, but more importantly you normally walk away having learned something about what to do or what not to do in the future! When you show grace to each other during that process, regardless if your right or wrong, you will most likely have a happy ending!
In Ephesians 4:1-6, Paul is informing us that we should ALWAYS be humble and gentle, and to have patience with each other and their faults, allowing love to hide our judgment for the other person. The whole reason for this is because we should keep ourselves united in the spirit and living together in peace.

That’s not just for married people either, it goes for everyone, as Christians we represent God and we are to imitate God just as Ephesians 5:1 tells us, and to give God glory in all that we do, just as 1 Corinthians 10:31 tells us. It’s not too late to let God drive your marriage, but first you have to remove yourself from the driver’s seat, then your marriage will reap the benefits of our ALMIGHTY CREATOR! It’s never too late to change!

(NLT) EPHESIANS 4:1-6:
“THEREFORE I, A PRISONER FOR SERVING THE LORD, BEG YOU TO LEAD A
LIFE WORTHY OF CALLING, FOR YOU HAVE BEEN CALLED BY GOD. ALWAYS
BE HUMBLE AND GENTLE. BE PATIENT WITH EACH OTHER, MAKING
ALLOWANCE FOR EACH OTHERS FAULTS BECAUSE OF YOUR LOVE. MAKE
EVERY EFFORT TO KEEP YOURSELVES UNITED IN SPIRIT, BINDING
YOURSELVES TOGETHER WITH PEACE. FOR THERE IS ONE BODY AND ONE
SPIRIT, JUST AS YOU HAVE BEEN CALLED TO ONE GLORIOUS HOPE FOR THE
FUTURE. THERE IS ONE LORD, ONE FAITH, ONE BAPTISM, AND ONE GOD
AND FATHER, WHO IS OVER ALL AND IN ALL AND LIVING THROUGH ALL.”

(NLT) EPHESIANS 5:1:
“IMITATE GOD, THEREFORE, IN EVERYTHING YOU DO, BECAUSE YOU ARE
HIS DEAR CHILDREN”

(NLT) 1 CORINTHIANS 10:3:
“SO WHETHER YOU EAT OR DRINK, OR WHATEVER YOU DO, DO IT ALL FOR THE GLORY OF GOD”
