At Friendship we believe the Church is not a building, it’s people, serving together to glorify God as an effective and influential church. So, each week, we highlight a volunteer or staff member who serves at Friendship, because our volunteers and staff make everything we do possible! We’ve asked each person some fun questions to help you get to know them better.

Aly Werner is a kindergarten teacher by profession, but her love for working with kids doesn’t stop during the weekend. Aly faithfully serves in the Kids Zone toddler nursery and we’re thankful for her love for every child who experiences Sundays at Friendship!

What brought you to Friendship originally?
My husband, Ben, and I had been going to the church that I had grown up in but we just felt like we were not getting as much out of church as we were wanting to and felt like we were just attending each Sunday just for the sake of saying that we went to church. I finally decided that we were going to make a change and so we came and tried out Friendship first because Amy Shipp is one of my good friends and I knew she really enjoyed it so we thought we would try! We had all intentions of trying out several places before settling down at one place, but after attending one service at Friendship we knew we didn’t need to look any further. We LOVE it here so much and are so thankful that we found our new church home.

Do you have any pets?
We have a 7 year old chocolate lab named, Tank! He’s wild and crazy, but when it comes to our boys, he’s a gentle giant!

Do you have any hobbies during your spare time?
In my free time I love to read! I probably read 3-4 books a month…I’m a huge book nerd 🙂

What do you do for a living/career?
I teach kindergarten at Creekside Elementary, which is in Franklin. I have been teaching that grade for 13 years now.

What would be your biggest fear?
My biggest fear would definitely be something bad happening to anyone in my family. I can’t imagine my life without Ben and my 2 boys.

If you had to choose one food to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be?
One food I could eat for the rest of my life would be Mexican food….I love taco salads, burrito bowls, and guacamole!

What would be your dream vacation?
I really want to go to Italy or Paris sometime soon.

What is your favorite scripture?
1 Samuel 1:27 For this child we have prayed, and the Lord has granted what we asked of him.  I clung to this verse for a long time as we went through some struggles having our 2nd son.

Do you have any pet peeves?  If so, what are they?
People who talk/whisper during a meeting over the person who is speaking.  I think it’s so rude!

What has been your favorite Friendship series?
Husband vs. Wife

What is your favorite part of Sunday mornings at Friendship?
The amazing music from our worship team and Dave’s message. I leave there each week feeling so rejuvenated and ready to take on the week. I never realized how important the music was to me at church until we started coming here.

What are your guilty pleasure foods?
Spoonfuls of Nutella and Peanut Butter! So yummy!
