Abused Freedom
I am so grateful to live in a country that has the freedoms we do in the United States. To get up an lead worship every week at Friendship without fear of persecution or death is quite an honor and gift. But a lot of times we take advantage of our freedoms. Not just our freedoms as American citizens, but as followers of Christ. We convince ourselves that it’s OK to do whatever we want because we are forgiven by a gracious God.
“What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means! Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?”
(Romans 6:15-16)
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” (2 Corinthians 3:17)
Don’t abuse the freedom we have in Christ, rather live in the righteousness we are called to.
Your response is everything.
