A gossip betrays a confidence, But a trustworthy man keeps a secret. Proverbs 11:13

Reading for today: Proverbs 11:1-31

“Did you hear…?” These three little words have probably destroyed more lives than all the battles of the world combined. The Bible in the book of James calls the tongue the uncontrollable beast, and I have found that to be a very fitting description. It seems like the harder we try the more we fail, or at least we are more aware of our failure. Jesus Christ said, “…out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.” This tells us that the cure for our wagging tongues is found in filling our hearts with right things. So, put a verse to memory today and let that become a part of the solution.
